Whenever I try a new wine, I go to my wine maps, and familiarize myself with the region - cool/warm, inland/coastal, etc. Often that helps us learn more about grape growing, and what to expect in terms of concentration, alcohol content, terroir expressiveness and earthiness, and acidity.
